Welcome to the tutorial on how to draw Anime characters and scenes.
This tutorial is in depth and should help all artists; beginners to advanced.
By the end of this tutorial, you should be able to draw anime characters with no problems at all!
Step 1:
Begin with the character's outline: Put him in the pose that you want him to be in. Remember, this pose will show his posture and size, that is why it is the most important step. Make sure you keep the proportions correct!
Step 2:
Draw the clothing and other large details: Draw all armor, clothing hair, ect. All the stuff that will be clearly seen should be drawn at this step. Don't worry about creases or any small details, they will be added later!
Step 3:
The hardest part, the face and other small detail: Begin on the face. The face should already have an outline, so draw the character's eyes (normal anime eyes are large), draw the character's mouth (usually a straight line when clised) and draw the characters nose (once again a straight line). You should also add some small details to the character's hair and in other locations.
Step 4:
The fine details: This is the point that you should concentrate on the small details. These details include the creases and shadows in the character's clothing and any other details that were left out in the past steps.
Step 5:
The scenery: Create a nice background that fits the character's pose. Also, the background's lighting should be the same as the character's. This means keep the shadows in the same directions and the highlights where the light is coming from.
Step 6:
Colouring and touch-ups: Clear up all the ambiguities in the sketch (all the strange lines or improper shadows, ect). Then, use colours that fit the character and his pose.
